When it comes to being picked fourth by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2011 NBA Draft, that was a thrill for Texas Longhorn standout Tristan Thompson. He’ll be helping number one pick Kyrie Irving turn the Cavs into a contender. But the rookie NBA player really lit up when he was asked about appearing in 2K Sports’ NBA 2K12. He talks about his game off the hardwoods in this exclusive video interview.
The Cavs said choosing Thompson over international players like Jonas Valanciunas and Jan Vesely was an easy pick because of what the big man brings to the floor. At Texas, Thompson started 34 of 36 games as a freshman. He also racked up accolades like Big 12 Freshmen of the Year and finished as one of the five finalists for the Wayman Tisdale Award.
Last year, Thompson topped all Longhorns and scored 13.1 points, grabbed 7.8 rebounds, blocked 86 shots, shot .546 from the field and had 10 double-doubles.
