Pixar’s sequel to the blockbuster hit Cars opens up in theaters today with high anticipation. While I wasn’t a big fan of the original Cars film, I will be attending a viewing of the film sometime this week with high hopes that I will have restored faith in the franchise. Reviews have been quite dismal despite an impressive showing at the box office. However, some of that faith is already restored after spending some time with the new outing from Disney Interactive, Cars 2: The Video Game.

Disney made a smart decision to open up an in-house video game studio. Disney Interactive did an

excellent job with Epic Mickey, had a wonderful showing at this year’s E3 and are poised to keep on delivering hit title after hit title. Although my expectations for Cars 2: The Video Game were  low to begin with. Any gamer knows that 9 times out of 10, movie games generally suck. Yes, they suck. Fortunately over the years there have been a few exceptions and luckily Cars 2 is one of them.
