According to Online Gaming 2010, the most recent report from leading market research company The NPD Group, the average number of hours spent each week on online gaming has increased 10 percent since 2009, while an average of 20 percent of all games purchased by online gamers were digitally downloaded - up from 19 percent in the 2009 study and 18 percent in the 2008 study.


Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, on behalf of DC Comics, announced a new game called Batman: The Brave and the Bold . The action-adventure videogame based on the popular animated series will be available this fall for Wii and Nintendo DS. In the game, fans play alongside Batman and many of his allies in the DC UNIVERSE to take on dozens of popular villains.


Disney Interactive Studios has released Alice in Wonderland – An Adventure Beyond the Mirror for the Apple iPod and iPod touch (www.itunes.com/WaltDisney). Inspired by the highly-anticipated 3D fantasy adventure Alice in Wonderland from Walt Disney Pictures and visionary director Tim Burton, the app is priced at $4.99 and lets users play as Alice through up to 10 multi-level environments, hundreds of puzzles and curious challenges, all while encountering her famous childhood friends: the White Rabbit, Cheshire Cat and Mad Hatter.


Vancouver 2010 means big business for videogame companies. Sega has already sold over 6 million copies of its Wii and Nintendo DS Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games since those titles launched in October. The original Mario & Sonic at the Summer Games has sold over 10 million copies globally life to date. Sega’s Vancouver 2010 game has added another 800,000 copies sold.


EA Sports has stood by since Tiger Woods’ infidelity turned him into a tabloid sensation. The game publisher has a new golf game featuring the world's best golfer that promises to be one of the big games of 2010. On the day that Woods made a public apology to his family and friends from the clubhouse at the TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., home of the PGA Tour, EA Sports President Peter Moore reacted to the apology.

Disney Interactive Studios is developing Toy Story 3: The Video Game for all major platforms, which will give fans a new way to enjoy the Toy Story universe. Unveiled at the American International Toy Fair in New York City by Mary Beech, general manager and vice president of franchise development and marketing for Disney Consumer Products, Toy Story 3: The Video Game will feature film adventures along with Disney’s first open-world gameplay for kids. Inspired by the upcoming Disney•Pixar animated film, Toy Story 3: The Video Game is due on retail shelves June 15, 2010.


DALLAS, Texas -- EA Sports set up shop at the snow-covered NBA Jam Session in Dallas over the weekend to showcase NBA Live 10. One of the athletes who provided motion-capture for the current game is NBA All-Star Rudy Gay. Gay has emerged as the leading scorer of the youth-driven Memphis Grizzlies. The former UConn star has transferred his scoring prowess from the college hardwoods to the NBA quite seamlessly. And the NBA All-Star has stayed in touch with fans using the latest technology. In 2008, he teamed up with YouTube to get video of dunks that he could use as inspiration for his own performance in the NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Contest. Gay also is an avid gamer. LucasArts and TT Games today announced the development of LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars.  The next chapter in the award-winning LEGO Star Wars videogame franchise, LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars will combine the best elements of all previous LEGO games while adding brand new gameplay to make it the most action-packed LEGO videogame to date.  Developed by the same team at Traveller’s Tales that created the critically acclaimed LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Indiana Jones series, the game will ship on the Wii, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC and PSP this Fall.

A special recording of the performance The Who from the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLIV Halftime Show is now available for purchase for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii.


Who Dat!  EA Sports' Madden NFL franchise got it right again. The Xbox 360 videogame correctly predicted that New Orleans would defeat the favored Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV. And they did. While the final score of the real game was 31-17 and not 35-31, the Saints did come back from a 10 point deficit to win the game. And Drew Brees, who's up for cover athlete of Madden NFL 11, was awarded the MVP just as the videogame simulation predicted.
