Hot on the wheels of NASCAR The Game 2011, Activision is returning to racing this fall with NASCAR Unleashed. The new game for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Nintendo 3DS will allow players to take their racer “to the streets” by driving on and off some of NASCAR’s most famous tracks in this stylistically souped-up arcade racing competition. This is a stark contrast to the first game’s simulation approach, which can be seen in the video below.

Despite Activision's attempts to call a cease fire, the war of words between Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 continues on, with the developers pushing the envelope to make their war effort the better one this holiday season.  This time around, though, EA made a bold statement indicating that the Call of Duty series in general may not have much of a future.  But is that the case?

In less than three months, we'll be able to get our hands on the next Call of Duty game, the long-awaited Modern Warfare 3.  But get this -- buzz is already building on what could be the next game in the series, possibly for release sometime next year.  The next game is being made by Treyarch (the developers behind Call of Duty: Black Ops) and it already has a code name -- Project Iron Wolf.

When Call of Duty: Black Ops hit the market last year, sales numbers hit amazingly high numbers, totalling over $1 billion in sales worldwide. However, there wasn't much competition against it in the world of first-person shooters because Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was released 8 months prior to Black Ops. Now that Battlefield 3 is right up against Modern Warfare 3 by being only two weeks apart in release, you would think that it would slow Call of Duty's momentum down even just the slightest bit. However, CEO of Activision Bobby Kotick likes to think otherwise.

Certainly one of the biggest games of the year will be Modern Warfare 3. With Call of Duty's track record of hitting huge sales numbers, how could it not be? The third installment of the Modern Warfare series looks to be the biggest as the battle is being brought to some of the world's biggest cities such as New York, Paris, and London. It will also feature a brand-new Survival mode within Spec Ops, taking the Zombies mode from previous games, but giving the enemies guns so they can fight back. After getting a chance to play Survival mode, it really is a much more fun experience, and a little tougher too.

There's going to be free games given out. There's going to be tournaments held. There will be a life size paintball match done in a re-creation of one of the multiplayer levels of Call of Duty: Moder Warfare 2. So I think its safe to say that Activision is going all out with this thing. This thing, of course, being Call of Duty XP, the world's first Call of Duty convention.
