BOSTON -- The Assassin's Creed franchise will not only be getting a console game but also a Sony Playstation PS Vita-powered handheld version in Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, but this one is with a female assassin Aveline and based in New Orleans paralleling the time period of the American Revolution of Assassin's Creed III assassin Connor. We talked to Assassin's Creed Liberation writer Richard Farrese about Aveline as he previewed what we can expect with the handheld version of Assassin's Creed.

BOSTON -- Assassin's Creed III is shaping up to be a hot title this holiday season and Ubisoft Creative Director Alex Hutchinson and Multiplayer Game Directo Damien Kieken revealed more about single player and multiplayer campaigns as well as a lot of new gameplay footage and screenshots. We talked to them in Boston where the heart of all the American Revolution action took place some two hundred plus years ago in these exclusive video interviews.

Last week, I get a chance to get hands on time with easily one of the most anticipated games of the holiday season, Ubisoft’s Assassins’ Creed 3. Instead of being on foot and climbing on rooftops in Boston, I was established in Caribbean on controlling a boat.

Ubisoft’s award winning historical fiction action-stealth franchise ‘Assassin’s Creed’ will receive some much needed star power for its upcoming live action film in the form of German-Irish actor Michael Fassbender.

I am so glad I’m finished with Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor.  Everything that could go wrong in that game does, and does so quite valiantly.  Even operating something as simple as a window visor is impossible thanks to the crappy Kinect controls.  But, honestly, this isn’t the first time a developer has gotten a motion experience wrong with Microsoft’s device – and it certainly won’t be the last.

Nintendo’s 3DS system got off to a bad start when it released last year, with a mostly lackluster launch line-up and lack of features for the system.  But now, finally, it seems to have gained its footing with some stellar game releases, including The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land, amongst others.  And while its showing at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo wasn’t the greatest, there are still some great games to look forward to.

What may work well on the mobile scene doesn’t always translate to console success.  True, there are those cases where a game’s crossover appeal is better than expected, like when Angry Birds made its debut as a PS Mini last year, but for the most part, they’re two separate markets, and some games don’t transition well between them.  Take Babel Rising, for instance.  With some more effort, Ubisoft could’ve made this a roaring beast on Xbox Live Arcade.  Instead, it’s more like a whimpering kitty.

The idea behind E3 was to showcase the latest and brightest games of 2012, but there are always a few games that disappoint us. Some games on our list made serious changes to their formula, and not for the better. Other games took center stage at E3 when they shouldn’t have. There were many games at E3, but here is our top five list of disappointments.

Ubisoft had a huge set-up on the E3 show floor this week, with a number of major sequels available for play, as well as two new Wii U titles coming out in time for the system’s launch later this year.  But one of its hidden gems, tucked away in a behind-closed-doors section in its offices, was The Avengers: Battle For Earth.  Based on the popular Marvel franchise of the same name, this game demonstrated some proper use of Kinect motions when it came to controlling some of your favorite superheroes and villains.  So, of course, we were eager to give it a test drive.

The free-to-play market had a huge showing at E3 and was showcased at Sony’s Online Entertainment booth. Recently SOE converted all of its most popular MMOs into the model, giving new life to D.C Universe while reintroducing fans to the PlanetSide series.

Assassin's Creed 3 Creative Director Alex Hutchinson shares more details on Assassin's Creed 3 at E3 2012 in this exclusive video interview. Set in the American Revolution, Assassin's Creed 3 introduces us to a new assassin Connor as he navigates the American frontier alongside the likes of General George Washington as they fight off the British in the American Revolution.

Earlier today, Ubisoft announced that one of the premier video games franchises in the industry will soon be making it’s way to the PlayStation Vita. Assassin’s Creed III Liberation will be released on October 30 exclusively on the PlayStation Vita.

One of the biggest first day E3 surprises was Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Black List.  It has been two years since we last time saw the stealth hero legend, but much has changed since then and the hero has appeared to adapt a more modern stealth.
