Dolby Laboratories and Royal Philips Electronics unveiled Dolby 3D, a 3D HD format and suite of technologies designed to deliver full HD 3D content to 3D-enabled devices, including glasses-free displays. Dolby 3D is being demonstrated at the NAB Show (April 16–19, 2012). The two companies have undertaken the joint project to improve the 3D viewing experience on displays of all sizes, including smartphones, tablets, PCs, and televisions. Dolby 3D is a complete system designed to work throughout the chain to deliver clear glasses-free 3D content that operates over existing distribution systems. This will enable content to be created for Nintendo 3DS and the growing number of 3D smartphones.

LAS VEGAS – NCIS: Los Angeles star and rapper LL Cool J was at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2012) with Dolby to announce his new online community, Boomdizzle.com. The site was designed for all aspiring artists of all kinds to record, share, and remix original music and video content. The multiplatinum and Grammy Award winning artist was at the Dolby Booth Sky Deck to showcase Boomdizzle's Virtual Recording Studio. Multiplatinum and Grammy Award winning artist, LL COOL J, today announced the launch of the first phase of the Boomdizzle’s Virtual Recording Studio. Boomdizzle was co-founded by LL COOL J, who also currently stars in the hit CBS show “NCIS: Los Angeles,” in 2008 as an online community designed for all aspiring artists of all kinds to record, share, and remix original music and video content.

SAN FRANCISCO – At this year’s GDC 2010, Dolby Laboratories, Inc. announced new tools that will soon make it possible for gamers to enjoy Dolby Axon surround voice chat on more of their favorite gaming platforms. Dolby unveiled new software developer kit (SDK) ports that enable game developers to integrate the Dolby Axon surround voice technology to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Mac OS X versions of multiplayer online game titles. General availability of these ports is planned for April 2010.
