Halo 4 is without doubt one of the biggest games of the year and is expected to sell well during the holiday season. As we approach fall, many retailers are starting to update their store catalogues to show store specific pre-order bonuses.

Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden III is just about ready to make a killing this spring, with Ryu Hayabusa returning to do what he does best -- slice bad guys into sashimi.  To commemorate the upcoming game, Tecmo Koei has announced that it will be making a special collector's edition being offered exclusively through Gamestop, jam-packed with fresh ninja goodness...and a Dead Or Alive surprise.

Remember back in the 80's and 90's, when game makers were trying to throw in images of hot women to entice you to buy their product, rather than relying on the strength of the games themselves?  The classic Sega Saturn "naked lady" ad comes to mind, with her most oglesome parts covered by screenshots from Sega games.  Well, Namco seems to remember those days well, as its latest ad for Soul Calibur V seems to point out something a little too obvious -- there are boobs in the game.

2011 brought plenty of gaming triumphs, but it also brought a few headaches along for the ride, naggling issues that were a bit hard to get over.  As a service to our readers, we've decided to present a list of things that we could do without in video games for 2012.  It's not too late for game companies to get a jump-start on these ideas, which would easily make their products way better.

For months, avid RPG gamers have been pushing Operation Rainfall, a project to bring three elusive role-playing games to the Nintendo Wii.  Those games, Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story and Pandora's Tower, have had a huge amount of success in Japan, but with Nintendo trying to focus on the Wii U, many thought that the games would never get a fair shake here.  Well, today, we were reminded just what that effort can bring sometimes, as Nintendo has officially confirmed the release of Xenoblade in the US next April!

There's a fine line between an event that's held and the company that sponsors it.  Everyone should be on the same page and have some kind of understanding as to what the event is about, rather than misconvey the message and turn it into an opportunity to pary.  Last night, over in England, the Gaming Media Awards were held, celebrating everything video game journalism and those behind it.  But one thing managed to get in the way of anyone having a good time -- the England-based store chain Grainger Games, who stepped up as a sponsor and then spectacularly went down in flames.

NBA 2K12 is now just days away from release, and basketball players everywhere can't wait to get their hands on it to see how it fares.  But now you can take your game to the next level, as 2K Sports has announced a promotion with Virgin Gaming and Gamestop, where players can compete for part of a $100,000 prize, just for showing off their skills.

Even though XP 2011 has come to a close, the excitement for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has just begun.  The game is just a little over two months from release, and players will have a lot to look forward to in the game's campaign, Spec Ops co-op and multiplayer.  And though the $59.99 edition will offer all of this, some of you might consider upgrading to the Hardened Edition for $40 more.  Activision explained what's all included in this package.

Everyone seems to be coming out with some form of Collector's Edition for their games these days, and Bethesda is no exception.  The company has announced its latest packaging for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, due for release on November 11th.  But unlike most gimmicky collector's edition packages out there, this one actually has some merit -- in the form of a bad-ass 12" dragon statue.

Batman: Arkham City is just about three months away from release, and the sheer scope and magnitude of the sequel make it look like it'll easily top Game of the Year-winner Batman: Arkham Asylum.  Bigger stages, ability to play as side characters (Catwoman and Robin, namely), new villains...just every aspect of the game looks to be better than ever.  But what about the collector's edition of the game that's making the rounds?  Will it be better?  It sounds that way...

You've probably read the news earlier this week that Sony was implementing a PSN Pass program for its upcoming first-person shooter Resistance 3, due for release this September.  The Pass is similar to a separate online play activation that other companies have been implementing in their games, including Codemasters, THQ and Electronic Arts.  A lot of people have gone on the rampage due to Sony's move, even going as far as saying they won't buy the game.  But the question is this -- is such a decision really a surprise?

Although Call of Duty fans may have their eyes set on Modern Warfare 3, there still is some fun to be had in Call of Duty: Black Ops. The game has already seen the release of two map packs since it's release in November of last year, but a third map pack very well may be on the way. A photograph leaked out onto the internet, showing off 5 possible maps for an upcoming DLC map pack.

Some people don't have the patience to wait until they are old enough to buy things that are for mature audiences. From video games to music, there is a lot of explicit content meant for older audiences, yet younger people manage to get their hands on it. In a recent undercover shopping survey by the Federal Trade Commission, video game retailers were found to be the best at enforcing the rating system and preventing sales to underage teenagers.
