Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III (RGIII) made it to the final game at the Madden Bowl in Indianapolis earlier this year Super Bowl week. The cover athlete of NCAA Football 13 was eliminated by Drew Brees, cover athlete for Madden NFL 11. That come-from-behind defeat stayed on the mind of RGIII, who was able to get revenge in the NFL Season Opener at the Super Dome in New Orleans. RGIII was able to slice through the Saints and take home his first NFL victory as a rookie against a Super Bowl MVP quarterback. RGIII talks about video games in the exclusive video interview below.

The NBA is truly a global sport. A record 39 NBA players will be featured on national team rosters for the basketball tournament at the 2012 Olympic Games, up from 28 in 2008. New Orleans is having an amazing run as sports grand stage. Fresh off the BCS Championship game and NCAA Final Four in 2012, the city will host Super Bowl XLVII in 2012. But that's just the beginning. The Big Easy will host the 63rd NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, February 16, 2014. The 2014 All-Star Game will be played at New Orleans Arena, home of the Hornets, pending the completion of arena and hotel agreements.  This will mark the second time that NBA All-Star will be hosted in New Orleans, having previously been held in the “Crescent City” in 2008.

From the football field to the battlefield, the Battlefield 3 experience comes alive this fall from Electronic Arts. EA has created a new Web series, Battlefield 3: Operation Gridiron, which features takes quarterback Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints), linebacker Clay Matthews (Green Bay Packers), wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald (Arizona Cardinals), and defensive end Jared Allen (Minnesota Vikings) into real-life combat scenarios inspired by the Battlefield 3.

With the lockout history and the NFL Kickoff between the New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers upon us, football fans celebrated with their wallets. Electronic arts sold through more than 1.4 million copies of Madden NFL 12 across all consoles in its first week at retail (Aug. 30 - Sept. 5), up 10 percent over last year’s opening week of sales (which came a few weeks earlier).  Based on internal estimates, digital gross revenue, driven largely by the Madden Ultimate Team mode, is up 78 percent over last year.

NEW ORLEANS – Post-Katrina, Louisiana courted Hollywood with major tax rebates and film and television production has skyrocketed. Now the state is looking at video games as a new way to bolster its economy. The state’s Digital Media Incentive program provides a tax credit of 25% of qualified production expenditures for state-certified digital interactive productions in Louisiana and 35% tax credit for payroll expenditures for Louisiana residents. Electronic Arts has already opened up shop in Baton Rouge and now Gameloft is opening a studio in New Orleans.

NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana government is wooing video game companies from around the globe, hoping its major cities become technology hubs. Electronic Arts was the first on board last year, setting up shop in Baton Rouge on the campus of Louisiana State University (LSU).
