The last time the NHL locked out the NHLPA, it wiped out the entire 2004-2005 season. That meant the Tampa Bay Lightning got an extra year as Stanley Cup Champions. Things are looking grim, once again, with many top NHL players playing in Europe and no talks scheduled. The Los Angeles Kings could end up Stanley Cup champs for a full two seasons. NHL 12 Cover Athlete Steven Stamkos Wins Second Scoring Title with 60 Goals

Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin captured his second career Art Ross Trophy as the National Hockey League’s scoring champion, Tampa Bay Lightning center and NHL 12 cover athlete Steven Stamkos claimed his second Maurice Richard Trophy as the League’s goal-scoring leader, and St. Louis Blues goaltenders Brian Elliott and Jaroslav Halak combined to win their first William Jennings Trophy as the goaltenders on the club allowing the fewest goals during the 2011-12 regular season. The four trophy winners will be honored at the 2012 NHL Awards, which will be held Wednesday, June 20 at the Wynn Las Vegas.

Big Games of 2011: Tampa Bay Lightning NHL All-Star Steven Stamkos Gets NHL 12 Cover Duty

Electronic Arts revealed at the 2011 NHL Awards hosted at the Pearl Concert Theater in the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas, that Steven Stamkos of the Tampa Bay Lightning will be the new face of the EA Sports NHL 12 video game. Stamkos’ image will appear on packaging worldwide when NHL 12 hits retail stores this September.

RALEIGH, North Carolina -- Goaltender Cam Ward of the Carolina Hurricanes was the first overall selection at the augural NHL All-Star Player Fantasy Draft powered by Cisco, conducted from NHL Fan Fair at the Raleigh Convention Center. The National Hockey League, working in conjunction with the National Hockey League Players' Association, created tonight's player draft to determine the team rosters for Team Staal and Team Lidstrom for the 2011 NHL All-Star Game presented by Discover as well as the Honda NHL SuperSkills.
