RedOctane created quite a rock monster when it first debuted Guitar Hero for the PlayStation 2 a few years ago.  It's since become a hugely popular property for Activision, through the release of successful sequels and various downloadable content packs.  But amidst some sagging sales and legal problems, the company has temporarily shelved the series following the somewhat disappointing Warriors of Rock.  However, it looks like the Hero may be taking the stage again very soon.

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has gone 3D. THQ has unleashed WWE All Stars for Nintendo 3DS. The new game comes packed with a roster of WWE Legends and prominent current-day WWE Superstars, including 13 WWE playable characters offered as downloadable content for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 titles earlier this year.  Cory Ledesma lays the smackdown on the jump to the third dimension in the video interview below.

LOS ANGELES – WWE superstar The Miz entered the main ring at WWE Fan Axxess outside of Stapes Center before Summerslam 2011 to announce the full roster of WWE 12. He was joined by fellow superstar Randy Orton, who’s on the cover of the new game, during the event. But Orton won’t be the only superstar with cover honors this November. THQ is allowing fans to vote on who will be on the collector’s edition of the game – WWE legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson or current WWE Co-Champion John Cena.

THQ is making one of the big games of 2011 even bigger. The company's pre-order program for WWE '12 focuses on Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Often touted as “the most electrifying man in all of entertainment,” legendary WWE Superstar The Rock will be available as a playable character for consumers who pre-order the game at any participating retailer within the United States or Canada for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft or PlayStation3 computer entertainment system (while supplies last).  The Rock’s in-game character will resemble his current-day appearance, including a shaved head and new tattoos.

Valve, creator of best-selling game franchises such as Half-Life, Portal, Left 4 Dead, and Counter-Strike and leading technologies like Steam and Source has teamed up with popular recording artist The National for a new contest. They announced a music video making contest based on The National's song "Exile Vilify," which is featured in Valve's bestselling game, Portal 2.

At Wrestlemania 27, seven-time WWE World Champion Randy Orton took down CM Punk to win a grudge match. His match was one of many highlights during the Super Bowl of wrestling, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin returning to the ring. Orton is one of over 50 professional wrestlers in THQ’s Smackdown vs. RAW 2011 and he’s also featured in the new WWE All Stars game.
